Las Vegas Motor Speedway was completed and opened in 1996. The 1.5-mile superspeedway hosted its first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event in 1998. Built on 1,600 acres, the facility also has an NHRA-sanctioned quarter-mile drag strip, half-mile dirt track, 3/8-mile NASCAR-sanctioned asphalt short track and a number of road courses. The speedway also is home to the Las Vegas Electric Daisy Carnival, a three-day electronic dance music festival.
